Facial Plastic Surgery Google Business Profile Reinstatement
Your listing vanished from Google Maps overnight and the consultation requests stopped with it. For a facial plastic surgery practice, where a single rhinoplasty or facelift consultation carries real value, that is the whole new-patient pipeline going dark at once.
Why do facial plastic surgery listings get suspended more often than other practices?
The good news is that facial plastic surgery suspensions cluster around a small number of predictable patterns, and most of them are fixable. The bad news is that the instinct almost every surgeon has in the first hour, submit an appeal immediately, is the single most common reason a recoverable suspension becomes an unrecoverable one.
Because these practices routinely carry two legitimate professional identities and one profile, and Google's systems are built to read that as a single business misrepresenting itself.
Dual-board ambiguity. Many facial plastic surgeons are boarded in both otolaryngology and facial plastic surgery. When the listing category says one thing, the website's stated services say another, and the state licence record says a third, Google does not read that as a surgeon with two credentials. It reads it as an entity whose identity cannot be verified, and misrepresentation is the policy it enforces against.
Functional procedures sitting beside cosmetic ones. Septoplasty, nasal airway obstruction and other insurance-billed work listed on the same profile as rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty and injectables produces a mixed medical and cosmetic signal. The profile looks like a medical clinic and a cosmetic clinic occupying the same record, which is exactly the pattern automated review flags.
A cosmetic identity inside a larger ENT group. Surgeons who practise within a multi-physician ENT group but maintain a separate cosmetic brand at the same address end up with two listings at one location, overlapping categories and shared phone numbers. Google treats co-located listings with overlapping service claims as duplicates unless the separation is documented and consistent.
Category churn. Switching between “Plastic surgeon”, “Otolaryngologist” and “Facial plastic surgeon” to chase rankings is one of the fastest routes to a suspension in this specialty. Repeated category edits on a medical listing read as manipulation rather than correction, and the edit history is visible to reviewers.
Reconstructive work under a cosmetic brand. Mohs and skin cancer reconstruction, trauma repair and revision work presented under a purely cosmetic practice name creates a conflict between the name on the listing, the services described and the entity holding the medical licence.
Surgeon-level versus practice-level identity. A practitioner listing and a practice listing at the same address, both claiming the same procedures, is a duplication pattern Google actions even when both are genuine.
What should I do in the first 24 hours?
Do not submit an appeal yet. Read that again, because it is the opposite of what the situation makes you want to do.
Then, in this order:
- Screenshot everything. The suspension notice, the current state of the listing, your Business Profile Manager dashboard, and the live search result for the practice name and the surgeon's name. Once a profile is fully removed some of this becomes unrecoverable, and you will need it.
- Find the notification email. It will say whether the profile was suspended or disabled, and it sometimes names a policy. Both matter.
- Establish whether it is soft or hard. If you can still see and edit the listing in Business Profile Manager but it does not appear publicly, that is a soft suspension. If the profile is gone from the dashboard entirely, that is hard. The two need completely different approaches.
- Do not edit anything on the listing. In particular, do not change the category. Editing during a suspension can reset a review queue you are already in, and a category change is the edit most likely to be read as a further attempt at manipulation.
- Gather your documentation before you need it: state medical licence, board certification for each board held, business licence, incorporation or DBA filing, a utility bill at the exact suite address, signage photographs, your lease, and any agreement separating the cosmetic entity from the ENT group if one exists.
What is the difference between a soft and a hard suspension?
A soft suspension means your profile still exists and you still have access, but it no longer appears in search or Maps. Verification has usually been revoked. These are generally recoverable through re-verification once the underlying cause is corrected.
A hard suspension means the profile has been removed from your account entirely. These are more serious, usually indicate a policy violation rather than a verification failure, and require a reinstatement request supported by evidence.
Working out which one you have is the first diagnostic step, because submitting the wrong kind of request wastes the attempt.
Why does appealing immediately usually make things worse?
Because an appeal is not a conversation. It is a submission that gets reviewed once, against the profile as it currently stands.
If you appeal before correcting the underlying cause, the reviewer sees the same conflict that triggered the suspension, and the appeal is denied. Subsequent appeals on the same profile face a higher bar, and repeated denied appeals on an uncorrected profile can move a soft suspension toward a permanent one.
The sequence that works is diagnose, correct, evidence, then appeal. Not appeal and hope.
What documents does Google typically ask for?
Requests vary by case, but for a facial plastic surgery practice the evidence that carries weight is:
- State medical licence in the name attached to the practice, at the listed address
- Board certification documents for each board the surgeon holds
- Business licence showing the legal entity name and the exact address
- Articles of incorporation or DBA filing matching the name on the listing
- A utility bill or lease at the address, including the suite number
- Exterior and interior photographs showing permanent signage in the listed name
- A website whose name, address, phone number, category and stated procedures match the listing exactly
That last one is where most reinstatements are actually won or lost, and in this specialty it is usually the mismatch between a dual-board biography and a single-category listing that does the damage.
How Rankure handles a facial plastic surgery reinstatement
Diagnose first
We establish what type of suspension you have and what specifically triggered it, working from the listing and its edit history, your website, your state licensing record, your board certifications and your business filings. Until that is established, any appeal is a guess.
Correct the cause
Category selection and the reasoning behind it, practice name, address format, the separation between a cosmetic identity and any parent ENT group, and the consistency between what your website says you do and what the listing claims. This is the work that makes an appeal survivable.
Build the evidence file
The documents above, assembled and presented in the form Google's reviewers expect, with the dual-credential position explained rather than left for a reviewer to interpret.
Submit and follow through
Including the follow-up process if the first submission is denied, and the post-reinstatement work that stops it happening again.
What does it cost?
Reinstatement starts with a $199 diagnostic. That tells you what actually caused the suspension and whether it is recoverable.
The balance is quoted per case and is charged only if we get the profile reinstated. If we cannot get it back, you have paid for the diagnosis and nothing else.
We are direct about that for a reason: a suspended listing is an emergency, and emergencies are where this industry does its worst work.
