The short answer

Why do home services profiles get suspended?

Most trades suspensions start with the address or the business name, not with anything the business did wrong on the job.

A home services GBP suspension usually happens because the profile breaks one of Google's Business Profile guidelines on addresses or names: a home address shown as a storefront, a virtual office or PO box, keywords added to the name, or extra profiles for towns the business only drives to.

  • Fix the cause before you appeal. An appeal filed with the same setup and the same evidence rarely changes the result.
  • Rules quoted from Google's guidelines, checked 9 October 2026.
What Google looks for

The setups that get trades profiles suspended

  1. 1

    A home address shown publicly

Service area businesses should hide their address. Google uses a plumber working from home as its own example.

  2. 2

A virtual office or PO box

A virtual office is not eligible unless it is staffed during business hours. PO boxes and remote mailboxes are not acceptable.

  3. 3

    Extras in the business name

Taglines, service descriptions and other unnecessary information are not allowed in the name. "Smith Plumbing" is fine; "Smith Plumbing 24/7 Emergency Plumber Dallas" is not.

  4. 4

More than one profile per real location

Extra profiles for towns you only drive to are the pattern Google looks for in this sector.

Before you appeal

Fix it before you appeal

If your profile hasFix this before appealing
A home address shown publiclyHide the address and list the areas you serve
A virtual office or mailbox addressRemove it. Only staffed locations qualify
Keywords or a tagline in the nameUse your real business name as it appears on your signage and paperwork
Duplicate or extra town profilesKeep one profile per real, staffed location
An appeal already deniedFind the actual cause before filing again. Repeat appeals with the same evidence rarely change the result
Locksmiths and garage doors

An extra step if you run Local Services Ads

Google Ads requires Advanced Verification before locksmith businesses in the US and Canada, and garage door services in the US, can appear in the Local Services unit.

Google says it typically takes six to eight weeks and can include a video call from your business location, so start it well before your busy season. It is separate from your Business Profile and from any reinstatement appeal.

How reinstatement works

From suspended to back on Maps

  1. Free

    Consultation

We confirm it is a suspension, not a verification problem, and whether an appeal is worth making.

  2. $199

    Diagnostic

A written finding on the likely cause, the evidence the appeal needs, and an honest view of the odds.

  3. Included

    Fix and file

We correct the address, name or duplicate profiles, prepare the evidence, and submit the appeal.

  4. $288 only if reinstated

    Back on Google

When Google restores the profile, the balance is due. If it does not, you do not pay it. $487 in total.

Before you pay anyone

What you get in writing

The same terms as our refund policy and terms.

  • What the diagnostic coversA written finding on the likely cause of the suspension and whether an appeal can work. It is non-refundable, and you know that before you pay.
  • What counts as successGoogle restores the profile so it shows on Search and Maps again. The $288 balance is due only then, $487 in total.
  • No replacement profileWe never create a new listing to get around a suspension. Google treats that as a violation and it can block reinstatement for good.
  • No passwordsYou add Rankure as a manager on the profile. You never share your Google password, and you can remove access at any time.
  • No guarantee of outcome or timelineGoogle alone decides. Treat any provider who promises reinstatement, a fixed timeline or a contact inside Google as a warning sign.
Questions

Home services suspension questions

Why do plumbers, roofers and HVAC companies get their Google Business Profile suspended?
Most suspensions in home services come from how the address and name are set up: a home address shown as a storefront, a virtual office or PO box, extra profiles for towns the business only serves, or keywords added to the business name. Google's guidelines rule out each of these.
Should a service area business show its address?
No, if customers do not visit you. Google's guidelines say service area businesses should hide their address, and give a plumber working from home as the example. You list the areas you serve instead.
Can I get a profile for each town I serve?
Not with addresses you do not staff. Google's guidelines say a virtual office is not eligible for a Business Profile unless it is staffed during business hours, and PO boxes are not acceptable. One profile per real location, with a service area, is the compliant setup.
How much does it cost to get a suspended home services profile reinstated?
Rankure starts with a free consultation, then a $199 diagnostic paid upfront. The $288 balance is charged only if the profile is reinstated, $487 in total. Google alone decides the outcome, so no provider can guarantee reinstatement or a timeline.
My appeal was already denied. Can it still be fixed?
Often, yes. A denial usually means the cause was not corrected or the evidence was missing. Find the actual cause before filing again, because repeat appeals with the same setup and evidence rarely change the result.
